Afrobeats star Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has revealed the reason behind his recent break from music.
The singer said his absence was not because he was working on a new album, but due to the death of his mother earlier this year.
Kizz Daniel, also known as Vado D’Great, made the disclosure on Friday while replying a fan on X.
The fan, @VicroyDominion1, had written: “I guess album really made you busy you had to pause for a while.”
Responding, Kizz Daniel said: “I paused for my Mom not an album … Lost her this year, but I gotta keep moving for the rest of the family … sorry I came late this year.”
The post drew reactions from fans who sent condolence messages and prayers to his family.
Kizz Daniel, known for hits like “Woju” and “Buga”, has suffered other personal losses in the past. He lost his father in 2015 and one of his triplets in 2021.
In a 2025 interview, he also disclosed that his wife lost her mother in 2024 while speaking about losses that inspired his song “Al-Jannah”.
