Nigerian artistes enjoyed a standout night at the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards which held on September 12 in Dallas, Texas, as Davido, Tems and a host of other Nigerian stars emerged winners.
Davido clinched the prestigious Album of the Year prize for his project 5ive, while Tems was named Best Female West Africa and Ruger picked up Best Male West Africa. Veteran rapper Phyno was awarded Best Male Rap Act, Mercy Chinwo won Best Gospel and fast-rising singer Fola took home Best Newcomer.
The wins continued for Nigeria as DJ Tunez was crowned Best DJ Africa, Patoranking took Best Male Reggae Dancehall, Real Warri Pikin won Best Comedian and Victor Osimhen was named Athlete of the Year. Victony secured the Fans Choice Award, Director Pink won Best Video Director, London won Music Producer of the Year, Nasty Blaq won Best Influencer, Uche Montana won Best Actor Actress, Kwate won Best African USA-Based Artist and DJ Prince won Best African DJ USA.
Elsewhere on the night, Fally Ipupa had a double celebration as he was named Artist of the Year and also received the Crossing Boundaries with Music Award, while Bnxn and Sarz won Song of the Year and Timaya was honoured with the Timeless Impact Award.
Other honours went to Diamond Platnumz and Juma Jux for Best Collaboration, Eno Barony for Best Female Rap Act, Shenseea for Best Female Reggae Dancehall, Dope Nation for Best African Group and Ghetto Kids for Best African Dancer. Juma Jux also won the Music Without Borders Award, while Marioo and Nikita Kering took Best Male and Female East Africa, Gerilson Israel and Emma’a won Best Male and Female Central Africa, DJ Maphorisa and Tyla won Best Male and Female Southern Africa, and DJ Snake and Latifa won Best Male and Female North Africa among others.
The 13th edition of the awards celebrated talents from across Africa and the diaspora in 41 categories with performances and appearances from artistes based in Africa, the United States, United Kingdom and the Caribbean.
