The Chairman of Urue-Offong/Oruko Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Uno Etim, has approved N20,000 monthly allowance for corps members serving in the council.
Etim announced the approval on Tuesday when corps members in the area paid him a courtesy visit.
He said the payment takes immediate effect.
“For the corps members serving here, we have approved a monthly stipend of N20,000 for each of the corps members, and the payment takes immediate effect,” he said.
The council boss urged the corps members to see the LGA as their home throughout their service year and promised them necessary support to discharge their duties effectively.
He also assured that their accommodation and welfare concerns would be addressed promptly, directing the Works Department to inspect their lodges for renovation needs.
According to him, the stipend is part of his administration’s commitment to support young Nigerians contributing their skills and time to the development of the area.
Etim further urged them to remain dedicated to their duties, assuring them of their safety and welfare.
Responding on behalf of others, the Community Liaison Officer, Ukachukwu Ifeanyi, thanked the chairman for his developmental strides in the council.
