100 Days To Polls: Parties Step Up Campaigns Ahead Of 2027 Elections

Political parties have stepped up campaigns as the countdown to the 2027 general elections hits 100 days.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Monday said the presidential and National Assembly elections will hold on January 16, 2027, while governorship and State Houses of Assembly polls are fixed for February 6, 2027.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, said the commission is now 101 days to the polls and has completed eight of 14 major statutory activities in its timetable.

Campaigns for presidential and National Assembly seats began on August 19, 2026, while governorship campaigns commenced on September 9, 2026, in line with Section 98 of the Electoral Act 2026.

Presidential candidates including APC, ADC, Labour Party, Accord and 20 others have intensified rallies and grassroots mobilisation nationwide.

INEC said it will hold a world press conference and stakeholders’ meeting today in Abuja to brief Nigerians on preparations for credible polls.
