NURTW member shot dead at Lagos bus stop

 

A member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, identified as Kamoru Omokoye, has been shot dead at Abijo Bus Stop in Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos.

Omokoye, also known as Zobo, was attacked around 9 a.m. on Sunday when two men suspected to be cultists arrived in an unregistered Lexus RX 350 and opened fire on him.

A police source confirmed that the victim was shot in the head and rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Epe, where he was pronounced dead by doctors on duty.

Anti-cultism platform Naija Confra said at least three other people sustained gunshot injuries during the attack, while several others fled the scene.

Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the incident, saying detectives have visited the scene and investigation has commenced.

Omokoye was said to have previously worked at Awoyaya Bus Stop before moving to GRA Bus Stop and was father to an eight month old child.
