Troops rescue six kidnapped victims in Kaduna, Katsina

Troops have rescued six kidnapped victims in separate operations in Kaduna and Katsina States.

The rescue took place on Thursday, September 17, 2026, in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna and along the Dandume-Damari axis in Katsina.

The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation Fansan Yamma, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, confirmed this in a statement on Friday.

Danja said Sector 1 troops acted on intelligence about a kidnap case in Igabi. He said the troops ran into terrorists who were moving the abducted victims.

According to him, the terrorists abandoned the victims and fled when they saw the soldiers.

The victims were identified as Enock Hussaini, Abba Dauda and Kalif Haruna. They were abducted from Gidan Gulbi village on September 11.

He said the victims were debriefed and have been reunited with their families, while troops have continued to dominate the area. In Katsina, Sector 2 troops responded to a distress call about the abduction of civilians along Dandume-Damari.

Danja said the troops moved swiftly to the area and engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to escape into the bush and abandon their victims.

The rescued victims are Abubakar Abdulkadir, 25; Mansir Idris, 26; and Abubakar Aliyu, 21.

A black Golf car belonging to the victims was also recovered. Danja said the victims were escorted and allowed to continue their journey.

He said the operations show the commitment of Operation Fansan Yamma to protecting civilians and disrupting terrorist activities across the joint operations area.

Danja urged residents to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
