Digital financial services provider, PalmPay, has cautioned customers against clicking suspicious links and approving unauthorised transactions.
The company issued the warning in a security advisory on Thursday, following the recent Customer Service Week, where it highlighted rising cases of fraudsters impersonating customer support representatives.
According to PalmPay, the scams often occur through phone calls, text messages and social media platforms, where fraudsters pose as agents of financial institutions to promise fake rewards, refunds or to request account details to resolve complaints.
The fintech firm urged customers never to share sensitive information such as one-time passwords (OTPs), personal identification numbers (PINs), passwords or verification codes with anyone.
It also advised users to avoid clicking unverified links and to independently verify any request to authorise a transaction before taking action.
PalmPay further cautioned merchants to confirm payments through their official transaction records before releasing goods or services, rather than relying on screenshots or messages presented as proof of payment.
The company said customers who notice unfamiliar transactions, suspect fraud or need assistance should contact it only through its official channels, including its in-app live chat, customer care line 0201 888 6888 and support email.
It added that users should verify the authenticity of social media accounts and communications before responding to any request for personal or financial information.
