The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has heightened health surveillance across all airports following the confirmation of an Ebola Virus Disease case in the Federal Capital Territory.
In a statement on Tuesday, FAAN said it was working with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), Port Health Services and the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to support containment efforts.
The authority said airport operations will remain on high alert, with additional screening for passengers, airline staff and airport personnel.
The Federal Government had earlier confirmed the case involving a woman who recently arrived in Nigeria from Uganda. She is currently in isolation receiving treatment, while 44 contacts have been identified for tracing.
FAAN said the early detection of the case shows that existing public health protocols are working.
It urged travellers to remain calm, cooperate with health officials at checkpoints, and avoid spreading unverified information.
The authority added that it will continue to follow guidance from health agencies and introduce more measures where necessary to protect passengers and airport workers.
Nigeria is the fifth country to detect the Bundibugyo strain since an outbreak was declared in the Democratic Republic of Congo on May 15, 2026.
