Ekiti driver borrows N3.5m to campaign for Tinubu, others

A commercial driver based in Ado-Ekiti has taken a N3.5 million loan to fund campaigns for President Bola Tinubu and two Ekiti lawmakers ahead of the 2027 elections.

The driver, identified as Adeleke Adeniyi, operates a mini-truck at the BAO Timber market along Ilawe Road. He is popularly known as “Online Loan Man for BAO”.

Adeniyi disclosed the loan in a video posted on Facebook by Ekiti State Television (EKTV) on Friday, October 9.

In the clip, he said he is ready to begin street campaign for Tinubu’s second-term bid with a solidarity song.

“I am fully ready to go out to campaign for him. And I’m going to use this song to back him up. On your mandate, we shall stand,” he said.

He also displayed a Wema Bank cardboard cheque to show how he plans to distribute the money.

According to him, N2 million is meant for President Tinubu, N1 million for Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele and N500,000 for Ekiti State House of Assembly member, Steve Fatoba.

Adeniyi said his decision was based on performance. He described Bamidele as a good leader whose projects have impacted Ekiti.

“I am supporting Mr President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his second-term ambition. I have borrowed money. I want to use this money to support him because he’s doing a very great job,” he stated.

He urged Nigerians to vote for Tinubu for a second term.

“I will appeal to my fellow Nigerians that we should demonstrate love by giving him, by voting him for his second term in office, because we are still going to see much more, more than what we have received,” he added.

Checks show this is not his first political loan. In February, he reportedly borrowed through OPay to brand a vehicle in support of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s second-term ambition.
