DSS Arraigns Man For Allegedly Forging Tinubu Letter To US President

The Department of State Services has arraigned a man in Kaduna for allegedly circulating a fake letter purportedly written by President Bola Tinubu to the President of the United States.

The suspect, Mubarak Abdullahi, also known as Sardaunan Samari, was arrested on September 28 for allegedly sharing the document on Facebook with the caption, “ATIKU IS COMING.”

The case was disclosed late Monday by Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga on X. He said Abdullahi, described as a supporter of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, admitted to sharing the document and apologized.

Onanuga said the suspect was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Court No. 10, Kabala Doki, Kaduna, which ordered his remand at the Correctional Centre, Kaduna. He added that the DSS has filed a three count charge of cybercrime and defamation against him at the Federal High Court, Kaduna.

The arrest has drawn criticism from activist Omoyele Sowore, who accused the DSS of being used to suppress dissent.
