The Confederation of African Football has deployed a 15-man team to Nigeria to inspect facilities for the 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly and the 2026 CAF Awards.
The delegation arrived on Friday, October 16, and is led by CAF Head of Safety and Security, Dr Christian Emeruwa.
The inspection covers final preparations for the General Assembly billed for Abuja and the Awards ceremony scheduled for Lagos.
The General Assembly will hold on November 21 at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja, while the Awards will take place on December 7 at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, Lagos.
In Lagos, the team is inspecting the awards venue, Eko Hotel & Suites and Murtala Muhammed International Airport, and meeting with Lagos State Government officials.
From Lagos, the delegation will move to Abuja to assess the conference centre, Transcorp Hilton Hotel, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. They are also scheduled to visit the National Sports Commission.
This is the second inspection. The first was held between July 31 and August 4, when CAF officials met with stakeholders in both cities on coordination for the events.
The Nigeria Football Federation said a six-man team led by its Director of Communications, Dr Ademola Olajire, is accompanying the CAF delegation throughout the visit.
