The Federal Government has proposed March 2027 for the conduct of the 2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, while WAEC, NECO and other examinations will hold between April and July.
The proposal is part of the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative, NESRI, aimed at harmonising the national examination calendar and reducing timetable clashes.
Under the proposed schedule, the UTME conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, will hold from March 15 to 25, 2027, with results expected within the same month of March.
The National Examinations Council, NECO, Senior School Certificate Examination will run from April 1 to May 14, while the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, WASSCE is scheduled for May 11 to June 18.
Other examinations include the National Business and Technical Examinations Board, NABTEB, slated for June 1 to July 5, and the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies, NBAIS, fixed for June 10 to July 9.
The Federal Government said results for NECO, WAEC, NABTEB and NBAIS are targeted for release in August 2027 to allow qualified candidates to begin tertiary admission processes by September.
The proposed timetable was disclosed after a meeting convened in Abuja by the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, with heads and representatives of examination bodies.
The Ministry said the dates are still proposals and remain subject to confirmation by the respective examination bodies.
