Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff was shot at by gunmen in Mumbai on Sunday evening, police have confirmed.
The incident happened as the 36-year-old actor was leaving a private event in the upscale Juhu area of the city. According to police official Mohit Garg, shooters opened fire at his vehicle.
Tiger Shroff escaped unhurt and is safe. However, two people were injured in the attack, including his driver who sustained a bullet wound.
“Mumbai police has deployed different teams to investigate further,” Garg told reporters.
Three suspects linked to the shooting have been detained. They were arrested on Monday morning in Kota, Rajasthan, while travelling on the Pune-Jaipur Express from Mumbai.
Kota City Superintendent of Police Tejaswani Gautam said the arrest was made in a joint operation by the Rajasthan Anti-Gangster Task Force, Kota City Police and Mumbai Police after tracking the suspects through CCTV footage.
The suspects were identified as Rehan from Sonipat, Haryana, Hritik Kurmi alias Roshan from Begusarai, Bihar, and a third person. They were reportedly planning to travel to Jaipur and then escape to Nepal via Delhi. No weapons have been recovered yet.
Preliminary questioning revealed that two of them have previous cases, one related to theft and another under the Arms Act. The motorcycle used in the attack was found abandoned in Andheri, Mumbai.
Police said a message claiming responsibility linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang is being verified, but the motive for the shooting is yet to be established.
A Mumbai Police team has reached Kota to take custody of the suspects for further interrogation.
