Trump Unveils Plan for ‘AI Force’, Rejects Calls to Slow AI Growth

President Donald Trump says he is forming an “AI Force” and will not allow efforts to slow down artificial intelligence development in the US.

In a post on Truth Social on Saturday, Trump dismissed fears that AI could become a superintelligence threatening humanity, calling it a hoax.

He said his administration will support the growth of the AI industry rather than hinder it.

“We will not in any way hinder or stifle the growth of this incredible industry. Rather, we will cherish it, help it, and watch over it, as it grows,” he wrote.

Trump argued the existing criminal and civil justice system is enough to deal with abuses.

He described AI as the next Industrial Revolution or Internet, but even bigger, saying it could account for as much as 25% of US GDP as America competes with China.

He likened the proposed AI Force to the Space Force he created in his first term and said he will soon appoint an AI Czar.

In December 2024, Trump had named David Sacks as White House AI and Crypto Czar. In March 2026, Sacks said his time as a special government employee had ended.

Speaking to CBS News last week, Sacks said fears about AI threatening humanity are overblown and development should continue with caution.

His comments come amid growing concerns about advanced AI. On September 8, former Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon warned that companies like Anthropic and OpenAI are “gambling with our lives” by building self-improving superintelligence.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, who has called for a slowdown, told CBS Sunday Morning that there are real dangers and that the industry lied about the risks.
