The list of players to score a hat-trick in the UEFA Nations League has now grown to 19, with Finland forward Joel Pohjanpalo becoming the latest addition.
Pohjanpalo reached the milestone in Finland’s emphatic 7-0 victory over San Marino on September 26, 2026, joining an exclusive club that features some of Europe’s biggest stars.
The competition’s first hat-trick came in 2018 when Armenia’s Yura Movsisyan struck four times against Gibraltar. That same year also saw trebles from Switzerland’s Haris Seferovic against Belgium, Scotland’s James Forrest against Israel, and Kosovo’s Arber Zeneli against Azerbaijan.
Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo remains the only player to score a hat-trick in the Nations League Finals, following his memorable three goal display against Switzerland in the semi final of the inaugural edition in June 2019. Norway star Erling Haaland is the only player to have achieved the feat twice, with his first coming against Romania in 2020 at the age of 20 years and 82 days, making him the youngest hat-trick scorer in the competition’s history alongside Spain’s Ferran Torres.
Other notable names on the list include Israel’s Eran Zahavi and Slovenia’s Haris Vuckic, who both scored hat-tricks in October 2020, and Spain winger Ferran Torres, who netted three against Germany a month later. Montenegro’s Stefan Mugosa and Serbia’s Aleksandar Mitrovic followed with trebles in 2022.
The recent editions have also produced several new heroes, including Slovenia’s Benjamin Sesko, Turkiye’s Kerem Akturkoglu, Northern Ireland’s Isaac Price, and Sweden’s Viktor Gyokeres, who hit four goals against Azerbaijan in November 2024. Montenegro’s Nikola Krstovic, Kosovo’s Vedat Muriqi and Finland’s Pohjanpalo have now completed the current list.
UEFA notes that both Movsisyan and Gyokeres officially recorded four goals in their respective matches, going beyond the traditional hat-trick.
