Thousands of graduates who have been unable to proceed to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) due to data discrepancies may soon get relief.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reopened its NIN Alignment Service to allow candidates to correct mismatches between their JAMB records and their National Identification Number (NIN) details.
The JAMB Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, disclosed this in Abuja while receiving a delegation from Veritas University. He said the initiative is aimed at removing bottlenecks that have left many graduates stranded for years.
According to him, some graduates completed their studies four to five years ago but could not be mobilised for NYSC because their biodata with JAMB did not match their records with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).
Aina said the new service will allow eligible candidates to align their JAMB biodata with their official NIN records, unlocking their chances for NYSC mobilisation.
The service, which is being implemented in collaboration with NIMC, covers four fields: name, date of birth, gender, and state/local government of origin.
JAMB announced the development on Friday via its official X handle, @jamb_hq. The board however warned that it is a one-time opportunity and approval is not automatic.
It advised candidates to first correct any errors in their NIMC records through the NIMC self-service portal or approved centres before applying on the JAMB e-Facility portal.
Candidates were also urged to select all affected fields at once and carefully review their details before submission to avoid rejection.
