The Nigeria Immigration Service has announced an extension of its Special Passport Intervention Exercise for Nigerians living in the United Kingdom, with the exercise now scheduled to run from October 6 to 30, 2026.
The extension was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja by the Service Public Relations Officer, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration, Akinsola Akinlabi, who said the decision followed the directive of the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, due to high turnout and sustained demand by Nigerians in the UK.
According to the Service, the intervention will take place at designated centres in London at 56-57 Fleet Street, Temple, London EC4Y 1JU, Manchester at Nigerian House, 23 Platt Lane, Manchester M14 5NE and Aberdeen at Hilton Convention Centre, 13 Smithfield Road, Aberdeen AB24 4NR, while the venue for Cardiff will be announced subsequently. Applicants have been advised to monitor the Nigeria High Commission’s website and the NIS official communication channels for updates.
Intending applicants are required to book appointments online through the dedicated portal https://form.jotform.com/Nigeria_ict/2026-passport-intervention-exercise or via the website of the Nigeria High Commission. The Service stressed the need for applicants to strictly adhere to their scheduled dates and times to ensure an orderly process, minimise delays and enable officials to attend to everyone efficiently throughout the exercise.
Akinlabi explained that applicants must come along with their completed application form and payment receipt, appointment slip printout, current passport where applicable, and a self-addressed return envelope. He warned against cash payments or additional charges, noting that the passport application and payment processes are fully automated and strictly cashless, with fees remaining $162 for a five-year booklet and $242 for a ten-year booklet and no extra charge required to participate in the intervention.
The NIS also reminded Nigerians in the UK that its Contactless Passport Application System remains fully operational, allowing eligible applicants to renew their passports without having to visit any Nigerian Embassy, High Commission or Consulate.
