Nine die on Ijebu-Ode-Ore expressway, FRSC warns against speeding

Nine persons have died in a crash along the Ijebu-Ode-Ore expressway in Ogun State.

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, confirmed the crash occurred at about 4:55pm on Monday at the Bethel area.

It involved a Delta Line Toyota Hiace bus, with plate number 14B-299DT, and a Sino truck belonging to Bill Gas Solution Ltd, with plate number AAB162XD.

FRSC spokesperson, Afolabi Odunsi, said nine persons, three males and six females, were involved and all died on the spot.

He said it was raining and the road was wet, with speeding identified as the probable cause.

The bodies were deposited at the General Hospital Morgue, Ijebu-Ode, while the vehicles were towed to Ilese Police Station.

Sector Commander, Oludare Ogunjobi, commiserated with families and warned motorists, especially commercial drivers, to obey speed limits and avoid speeding on wet roads.
