The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board has unveiled its LearnFest Lecture Series, a new in house learning platform aimed at promoting continuous learning and deepening knowledge sharing among its staff and oil and gas industry stakeholders.
The initiative was inaugurated on Thursday, September 25, at the Board’s corporate headquarters in Yenagoa and is being implemented under the Nigerian Content Academy, the specialised training and knowledge sharing arm of the NCDMB.
According to the Board, LearnFest is designed to provide structured training on its mandate, operations, internal processes and Nigerian Content tools, while breaking down organisational silos to encourage stronger collaboration across departments.
The inaugural three-hour session brought together all staff at the headquarters and focused on the roles of the Board’s seven directorates, their divisions and departments, their respective responsibilities and how they function individually and collectively to deliver on the NCDMB’s corporate goals.
A promotional video presented at the event explained that the Board’s institutional knowledge is spread across seven directorates, each with distinct mandates, processes and expertise, noting that knowledge becomes more impactful when it moves across units rather than remaining isolated.
The Academy said the series was created to help staff understand “how everything fits together”, providing a clearer picture of the Board’s mandate, institutional processes, culture and working relationships. “When we understand what others do, we collaborate better, support one another better, and work as one integrated ecosystem,” it stated.
In his opening remarks, Director of Capacity Building Directorate, Engr. Abayomi Bamidele, said the lecture series was introduced to enhance understanding of Nigerian Content tools and processes, including the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act 2010, Nigerian Content Compliance Certificate, Nigerian Content Plan, statutory reporting requirements and expatriate quota regulations.
Bamidele noted that industry operators, service companies, industry associations, academic institutions and government agencies have already shown interest in specialised training offered through the Nigerian Content Academy. He disclosed that the Academy is developing a faculty pool for its programmes and that speakers at the LearnFest series would form part of the potential instructors, adding that management has approved the use of its purpose built facility in Opolo, Yenagoa, as a training centre.
