France captain Kylian Mbappe missed training on Tuesday after coming down with flu like symptoms, leaving him doubtful for Les Bleus’ upcoming Nations League fixtures.
The Real Madrid forward remained at the team’s Clairefontaine base for observation while new head coach Zinedine Zidane led the rest of the squad through the session, the French Football Federation said.
It was Zidane’s second training session since taking charge of the national team. The former World Cup winner is preparing for his first match as France coach against Türkiye in Kocaeli on Friday.
Mbappe’s illness has presented an early setback for Zidane, who replaced Didier Deschamps after the 2026 World Cup to begin a new era with the national team.
France face a busy window, with back to back games against Belgium home and away before hosting Italy.
No decision has been made on Mbappe’s availability, with the team’s medical staff expected to monitor his condition in the coming hours.
