The Kano State Multi-Agency Task Force on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking has secured the conviction of two rubber solution dealers for exposing 43 underage children to intoxicants.
Chairman of the Task Force, Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado, disclosed this Tuesday in Kano while reviewing its activities since inauguration by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on July 22, 2026.
He identified the convicts as Kabiru Isa, alias Mada, and Usman Hamisu, alias Mani. They were arrested for allegedly supplying rubber solution and other substances to children engaged in street scavenging at Race Course, instead of paying them.
Magistrate Court No. 44, Gwammaja, presided by Muhammad Alhaji Sani, found them guilty of criminal conspiracy, membership of unlawful society and administering intoxicants under Sections 97, 97A and 249 of the Penal Code. Each bagged 9 years imprisonment without option of fine, to run consecutively as full 12 calendar months including weekends.
Rimin Gado said the 43 children have been rescued, medically examined and are receiving counselling and treatment, with efforts ongoing to reunite them with families.
He added that in two months, the Task Force has arrested 380 suspects and secured over 230 convictions from raids on black spots like Filin Idi, Filin Mahaha, Tashar Rami and Kawo. Items recovered include Cannabis, Exol-5, Tramadol, Diazepam, Pregabalin, rubber solution and dangerous weapons.
The Task Force also seized about 870,000 Pregabalin capsules from a pharmaceutical company over suspected diversion to the illegal market.
