The Independent National Electoral Commission has commenced the display of the preliminary voter register and distribution of Permanent Voter Cards nationwide ahead of the 2027 elections.
The exercise runs from October 9 to 15, 2026, at Registration Area centres between 9am and 3pm daily, including weekends.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, who disclosed this at the GOCOP conference in Lagos on Thursday, said only PVCs for those who registered in the first phase of the Continuous Voter Registration from August 18 to December 10, 2025, are ready for collection.
Amupitan, represented by the Lagos REC, Ayobami Salami, said the commission registered over 10.7 million new voters, bringing the total register to over 103 million after biometric cleanup.
He said voters should use the window to check their names, photos and polling units, and lodge complaints where necessary.
The commission said the display is in line with Section 19(1) of the Electoral Act 2026. Collection of PVCs will continue at INEC local government offices after October 15.
INEC clarified that PVCs for transfers, corrections, and replacement of lost or damaged cards are not included in this batch. A new date for their collection will be announced later.
