Egbin Power Plc has commenced the 11th edition of its annual scholarship programme for students in its host communities.
The company said the 2026 edition kicked off with a pre-test exercise that attracted more than 250 pupils from primary and secondary schools in Egbin, Ijede and Ipakan communities in Ikorodu.
The scholarship programme was established under the company’s Personal Corporate Social Responsibility initiative to provide free quality education to outstanding students selected from schools in its host communities.
Egbin Power said beyond tuition support, this year’s edition will also include an education fair, boot camp, mentorship sessions and playgroup activities designed to improve academic performance and build confidence, discipline, leadership and life skills.
The Chief Executive Officer of Egbin Power, Mokhtar Bounour reaffirmed the company’s commitment to education as a tool for sustainable development.
He said education remains one of the most powerful ways to create lasting impact in the host communities and that the scholarship is a deliberate investment in the future of the communities.
Bounour noted that the company’s responsibility goes beyond generating electricity to generating opportunities, nurturing potential and enabling dreams of young people who will become leaders and change makers.
The company said the programme aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4 which seeks to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
