Three Men Sentenced To Death For Abducting Two Catholic Priests In Adamawa

An Adamawa State High Court has sentenced three men to death for abducting two Catholic priests in the state.

The court, presided over by Justice Christopher Mapeo, found Taledo Demiel, Namomai Medan and Mikaila Yusuf guilty of the kidnap.

The convicts were tried for the February 2025 abduction of Reverend Fathers Matthew Dutsemi and Abraham Sauman.

They were convicted on five counts bordering on criminal conspiracy to commit kidnapping, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, armed robbery, harbouring kidnapped persons and negotiating for ransom.

Justice Mapeo held that the prosecution, led by the Department of State Services, DSS, proved its case beyond reasonable doubt and subsequently imposed the death sentence.
