The management of Gamji College of Health Technology, Sokoto has denied reports that 18 of its students were abducted by suspected terrorists while travelling to Oyo State.
The denial followed a report published on October 5 by Sahara Reporters alleging that a chartered bus conveying the students to Oke-Ogun in Oyo was attacked, the driver killed and 18 students kidnapped towards Mokwa, Niger State.
In a statement on Monday signed by its Registrar, Bello Abdulrahman, the College described the report as false and misleading.
“The College wishes to categorically state that the said report is FALSE, MISLEADING and does not reflect the true situation. No student of Gamji College of Health Technology, Sokoto, was kidnapped,” the statement said.
The College said all its students are safe, sound and currently in their various destinations pursuing academic and professional programmes.
It urged parents, guardians and the public to disregard the report and stop circulating it.
The Sokoto State Government also refuted the report in a separate statement by the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Abubakar Bawa.
The government clarified that the victim was Halima Sokeni, a former student of Gamji College of Nursing Sciences, More Area, who graduated as a midwife in September 2026 and was travelling home on October 1 when she and other passengers were abducted in Niger State.
