The Lagos State Police Command has arrested one suspected member of the armed robbery gang that attacked customers at Ghost and Spirits Lounge on Ekoro Road, Abule Egba.
The suspect, who was seen in a viral video wearing a green shirt and cap, was arrested after the lounge management placed a N5 million bounty on the gang members.
Police sources said the suspect is currently in custody and is being interrogated, while a manhunt has been launched for the other fleeing members.
The incident, captured on CCTV footage, occurred at about 4:00 a.m. last Saturday. In the video, customers were seen sitting on the bonnet of a car and inside the boot of another vehicle, chatting before the gang struck.
According to the footage, one of the suspects who wore a green shirt and cap was seen standing beside one of the cars, posing as a customer. Moments later, the gang’s operational vehicle was sighted across the road, where one of the robbers alighted and announced their presence with a gunshot.
The suspect in green was then seen walking up to one of the victims and forcibly removing his wristwatch, while others fled.
The gang later dispossessed the victims of other valuables before escaping in their vehicle.
A police source confirmed the arrest, noting that the suspect in the green shirt was picked up following intensive tracking and credible intelligence.
“We have one suspect in custody and he is assisting us with useful information. We are trailing the others. The command will not rest until all the perpetrators are brought to book,” the source said.
The command has assured that the remaining members of the gang will be apprehended soon and prosecuted.
