American rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs was hospitalised over the weekend after sustaining a head injury while serving his federal sentence in New Jersey.
The 56 year old was taken by ambulance from the Federal Correctional Institution, Fort Dix, in the early hours of Saturday, October 10, 2026, according to TMZ, which first reported the incident. The Los Angeles Times reported on Monday that the injury was described as non-life-threatening.
Sources said Combs was conscious and speaking before he was transferred and returned to the prison later the same day before sunrise.
The Bureau of Prisons and officials at FCI Fort Dix declined to comment, citing privacy and security reasons. A spokesperson for Combs said in a statement, “We are aware of the reports concerning Sean Combs and are working to confirm the circumstances. Sean’s health and well-being are our immediate concern.”
The circumstances of how the injury occurred have not been officially established.
Combs is serving a 50 month sentence after a jury convicted him in July 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted of racketeering and sex trafficking charges. He was transferred to Fort Dix from Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center in late October 2025.
Federal records now list his projected release date as March 2, 2028, moved back from January 2028 after he was sanctioned for disruptive conduct.
The hospitalisation comes days after NBC News reported claims from anonymous inmates that Combs received privileges including special meals, massages and access to a contraband phone and alcohol, allegations his team denied as exaggerated scrutiny of ordinary prison life.
